Level Up Your Sex Life
October 9, 2025Humans are mammals. Biologically, we are pretty damn ancient, which is to say, our basic makeup is oriented toward survival. As such, we are sensory creatures, responding to the world we perceive via our senses. The way we experience the world, through sight, touch, smell, taste, and sound, allows us to interact with our surroundings in real time. For the most part, as creatures on earth, we get along as we go along, merrily surviving day-by-day.
Occasionally, as humans, we might have an experience that can reasonably be defined as “transcendent.” Perhaps a score of music moves us, or a beautiful scene or painting brings us to tears. Perhaps it’s witnessing some natural event or having an experience “in the zone” during a sporting event that occurs to us as “profound.” There are those that have transcendent experiences in a religious construct, such as the nothingness a Buddhist Monk might strive for, or as we have found, in the expression of our love for each other.
For us, sex itself is transcendent.
We are in an exploration of Sacred Sexuality. To that end, we will be doing a series on our podcast in an effort to illuminate the experience for others, but it is very much our own experience that interests us.
There is a certain amount of ritual in our sexual adventure each day. The way I kneel for my Sexy Goddess, the way she touches me and gets me to full arousal before we renew our Sacred Connection.
Those two elements each evening, that begin our scene back-to-back, where our connection is magical, very much transports us into the realm of transcendent sex. As we look to examine what it is that catapults us into that space, one thing is clear. We are deeply in love. It is that feeling of being fully free to express ourselves as lovers, both individually and together, that opens a door to an ethereal space which can only be described as transcendent.
What we experience together is a very palpable sense of being one creature in the throws of our lovemaking. When we kiss, when we fuck, when we pleasure each other, it is as if we are exploring the wave form. It feels like an emergent experience. What do I mean by that?
We are made up of particles, in particular, neutron, protons and electrons, and none of those particles have any attachment to being part of us. They do not have consciousness, at least, not as we know it. Molecules are an emergent phenomenon that in turn have chemicals as an emergent phenomenon. Life is an emergent phenomenon of chemistry. The molecules that construct our cells, do not have consciousness either, but as creatures, Homo Sapiens have consciousness. In that sense, consciousness is an emergent phenomenon that occurs as an outcome of evolution over millions of years. I am making the argument that the transcendent experience we are sharing at this moment is also an emergent phenomenon akin to the evolution of consciousness, but in this case, transcendence has emerged from consciousness.
As a Poetic Naturalist, I believe the universe as a whole, including the natural world we live in, is consistent and aligned. I also believe we do not understand it all, but as our understanding evolves, we will find that there is not some magical power behind it all. Rather, we have already formed a deep understanding of the natural world down to the particle level with a great deal of certainty. Pretty remarkable in just 400 years. What makes it poetic, is that we have different ways of explaining aspects of the physical universe, and use different languages and vocabularies and reasoning to explain what we understand in each domain of applicability. We use math and scientific jargon and the language of chemistry and biology and so on to describe how the universe works domain by domain. Another aspect of Poetic Naturalism is that as new information emerges, we update our priors.
With that in mind, we refer to ourselves as “Sexplorers”. Our 7-year journey thus far has landed us in this emergent state of transcendence. As Petra says, “Words are harder to come by to describe the glory that is our day to day experience of being alive, in love and deeply connected.” We are rapidly approaching the Winter Solstice, the time when we begin our life journey as a couple once again with a new engagement. This will be the third one, with the intention to be Hard Married once again on the Summer Solstice. While we enjoyed transcendent moments throughout our time together, It was during the period following marriage number 2 that transcendence emerged on a consistent basis. We are both very excited to discover what emerges during engagement number 3! I am sure that whatever it is, it will no doubt blow our minds (again!) That is the essence of being Hard Married!
